Not that I’m complaining about the amount of snow we’ve had here in Val over the last week or so, but this is getting ridiculous!
It took me 2 hours yesterday to dig my car out in order to get to the 3 Christmas trees that had been stored in there since Thursday.

And now it’s snowing again!! Madness!

Snow, snow and more snow! In fact, probably more snow here in Val d’Isere than we had the whole of last season. Roads have been closed to both pedestrians and vehicles making Saturday’s transfer day more than interesting. Chalet Killy was only accessible by climbing a mountain of snow and running the gaunlet…hard work with bags of laundry and camp beds not to mention guests and their luggage.
Anyway, the snow stopped for a while on Sunday and Team Val made it out onto the mountain for the first proper ski. Many of the slopes are still closed due to avalanche risk but the pisteurs are working 24 hours a day to bash it down and make it safe. With clear blue skies forecast for the end of the week and most runs open, conditions couldn’t be looking better for Christmas here in Val.

Both the Meribel and Val d’Isere teams spent two solid weeks working furiously learning the ropes; cleaning like crazy; eating like Kings and Queens; and most importantly getting to know eachother, their resorts and having fun.

We are proud to say they have demonstrated some of the finest servive and cuisine we have ever had. The bar has been raised once more!

Well here I am back in Val d’Isere for the second season with Fish and Pips and can’t wait to introduce our brand new team. We have 3 amazing chefs and 2 fantastic hosts who are all getting stuck into their first week of guests having spent two weeks in training learning everything there is to know about their chalets, the resort and the F&P product.
Here is just a taster for all those who have already booked their holiday in the Espace Killy and a little reminder for those still thinking about it!

Panic over - winter is here at last!

Snow has been thumping down in Meribel and Val d’Isere over the past few days with more than 60cm on the top slopes and a good covering all the way down to the valley floor. The forecast is predicting further snowfalls throughout the week, so it looks like the first week of the season shall be a snowy one after all.

Our Meribel and Val d’Isere teams have been up to their eyes in training in preparation for first guests. They have worked their socks off and have demonstrated some of the finest service and cuisine we have ever had. The bar has been raised once more!
